How to make your first $1M
without getting lucky...
If I was broke with no money, connections, or skills, here’s what I would do to make my first million.
Step 1: Set Your Why
Forget chasing a million bucks.
What's your real fire?
“Is it for you, your parents, or your partner? Is it for freedom? Is it to buy a dream car/house?”
Your “why” should ignite you every morning. Find it and let it drive you forward.
Step 2: Figure Out Your Existing Skillsets
You're not just another face in the crowd. You have talents and skills that set you apart.
Maybe you're a natural-born salesperson, a creative genius, or a tech whiz.
Find what you're good at and let it be your secret sauce.
Step 3: Get A Job And Reinvest
Forget waiting for the perfect job or the big break. Get out there and hustle.
Even if it means flipping burgers or selling knick-knacks on eBay, every dollar you earn is a stepping stone to your goal.
When I was young, I used to work as a construction worker.
I hated that job but it paid me around $1000/week.
That job helped me spend money on my health, mindset, and goals.
Step 4: Go All In
When you find something that you think can help you achieve your goal, GO ALL IN.
Don't get distracted by the shining object syndrome and ignore all the doubters.
Focus on 1 thing. Learn, implement, eliminate, and iterate.
Step 5: Document On Social Media
Attention is the new currency.
And it's never been easier to reach millions of people without spending a single penny on ads.
Document your whole journey. Your wins, losses, daily progress, and short-term and long-term goals.
Create videos on YouTube. Create 1-minute shorts, reels, and TikToks.
Post stories on IG. Or write tweets and threads on X.
And don't worry about being perfect. People don't want polished, they want raw & real content.
Step 6: Build Social Proof
Talk is cheap. Anyone can give an irresistible offer but not everyone can deliver.
Overdeliver for your clients and build a strong portfolio of social proof.
Share with your audience your process, strategy, and results.
Soon you'll start getting reached out by people who can pay you a lot for the results you produce.
Step 7: Teach Others
Now that:
1. You have built and sharpened your skillset
2. Worked with dozens of clients
3. Built social proof
4. Shown 100% transparency on social media about your journey
You'll see a lot of people asking you:
How can I do this? Can you teach me?
This is where you can build an offer (a course/community) where you teach people step-by-step.
Monetize your brand, but make sure you overdeliver for your audience.
Give them as much value as you can.
Remember: This journey isn't an overnight success. It will take you 3-5 years.
It's a journey where you'll fail, have self-doubts, and want to quit. But always remember your WHY (Step 1).
That’s all for today.
P.S. I dropped a video explaining what I would eat if I had to get shredded. You can check it out here.
Talk soon,
Colin.
