The best decision of my life...
If there’s one golden nugget I can pass on from my journey through life so far, it’s the unparalleled value of moving out of your hometown in your 20s.
Stepping outside that comfortable bubble you’ve grown up in is like opening the door to a whole new dimension of personal growth and discovery.
When I made the decision to leave my friends and family, it wasn't just about seeking new adventures; it was about throwing myself into the deep end to see if I could swim.
The thing is, comfort zones are cozy and safe, but they’re also where growth ceases to exist.
It was only when I placed myself in a new environment, with all its challenges and unknowns, that I truly began to understand what I was capable of.
Gaining independence was a massive part of this journey. Back in my hometown, I always had a safety net.
Moving away meant that net disappeared, and suddenly, I was responsible for everything. From managing finances to solving day-to-day problems, it was all on me.
I stumbled and made a lot of mistakes but each mistake was a lesson. And through these lessons, I learned more about life and myself than I ever could have if I’d stayed put.
I also met tons of new people. These new connections broadened my horizons in ways you can't imagine.
So, here's my piece of advice to you, from someone who's been through it and come out the other side:
“Take the leap and move out of your hometown.”
The growth, the challenges, and the discoveries about the world and yourself are worth every second of uncertainty.
